c.1795 Born son of William Pilkington

1827 When the other shareholders in St Helens Crown Glass Company sold their shares in the company, William acquired some of them, also holding some on behalf his elder brother, Richard. The firm became Greenall and Pilkington.

Married Anne Evans (c.1813-), daughter of Richard Evans ( -1864)

Richard Pilkington had 6 sons; the elder sons, (William) Windle Pilkington, Richard Pilkington, joined the glass business. The others went into the coal business that the family was also involved in : Alfred Pilkington, Edward Pilkington, Charles Pilkington and Lawrence Pilkington
