1954 Bio Note [1]

Mr. Bowers was educated at St. Georges School, Harpenden. After completing an apprenticeship in the motor industry in 1938 he was Technical Assistant and later Prototype Test Engineer for the division of Parnall Aircraft, Ltd. engaged on the design and manufacture of hydraulically operated gun turrets for aircraft.

In 1944 he joined the staff of Dowty Equipment, Ltd., as Hydraulic Development Engineer and assumed responsibility for pump design in 1948.

He was appointed Chief Engineer, Dowty Auto Units, Ltd., in 1953.
