WWII J. Stone and Co established a factory in Manchester - perhaps this is a reference to this business?[1]

1950 Stone Platt Engineering was merged with another subsidiary, Stone-Wallwork Ltd, which had complementary activities, as Stone-Wallwork, which would handle the mechanical engineering products of the group.[2].
