The company was incorporated March 10, 1898, under the laws of the state of New Jersey, U.S.A. The object of the company was to unite numerous businesses of manufacturers of sewing and other cottons in the United States.

1898 The English Sewing Cotton Co acquired a controlling interest in the American Thread Co. [1]
