S. Laing


Samuel Laing, (1810 - 1897). Railway man, philosopher and scientist.
1810 Born in Edinburgh.
1840 Called to the Bar.
1845 Nominated a member of the Railway Commission.
Wrote works such as, "Modern Science and Modern Thought", and "Human Origins".
For years, chairman of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway.
1897 Died aged 86 at Rockhills, Sydenham hill.
