1817 Edward Elwell junior took over the The Forge at Wednesbury and quickly built a reputation for quality edge tools - see Edward Elwell Ltd. He further improved the water power system.

1849 Joined the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.[1]

1869 Edward Elwell was succeeded by his grandson Alfred.
