1902 Worked in the Chief Engineer's (J. W. Jacomb) drawing office at Waterloo[1]
Best known for:
- Planning and initiation of major Southampton Docks extension
- Completion of Southern Railway electrification scheme.
- General Manager of the Southern Railway 1937
For almost 25 years he was the right-hand man of Herbert Walker on the London and South Western Railway and the Southern Railway
