1947 Obituary [1]

"ERNEST EDGE was associated with the firm of Messrs. Matthews and Yates, Ltd., heating and ventilating engineers. Swinton, Lancashire, from his apprenticeship, which he served from 1919 to 1926, until the time of his death, which occurred in June 1946, at the age of forty.

He was first employed on the design of jigs and tools and in the meantime he completed his education at the Royal Technical College, Salford. In 1929 he was made assistant to the works manager, in which capacity he was specially concerned with rate-fixing and was responsible for certain contracts. Latterly he had acted as works manager. Mr. Edge was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1942."
