"PERCIVAL WILLOUGHBY received his technical education (which extended over ten years), in mechanical engineering at the Salford and Wigan Technical Colleges.
After completing his practical training with the South Wales Anthracite Colliery Co; Messrs. Andrew Knowles and Son, Ltd., of Manchester, and Messrs. J. Scowcroft and Company, Ltd., of Wigan, between 1913 and 1918, he served for a brief period in the R.A.F. as a fitter. From 1919 to 1926 he found employment as fitter and erector, and later was assistant shop foreman for the Clifton and Kearsley Coal Company, Ltd.; of Manchester.
His next appointment was that of maintenance engineer to the Pilkington Tile and Pottery Company, Ltd., also of Manchester. This position he retained for ten years. Since 1936 he had been engineer and clerk of the works at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury, where his death occurred on 26th March 1947 at the age of forty-eight. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1932."
