Walter Joseph Slingsby (1875-1944) of H. C. Slingsby

1875 Born at Bradford the son of Thomas Slingsby (1842-1918) and his wife Mary Ann Crowther (1846-1925)

1891 Living at 18 Spring Garden Road, Bradford: Thomas Slingsby (age 49 born Bradford), Reed Mechanic and Employer. With his wife Mary A. Slingsby (age 44 born Low Moor) and their six children; Arthur Slingsby (age 22 born Bradford); Bertha Slingsby (age 21 born Bradford); Harry C. Slingsby (age 20 born Bradford); Walter J. Slingsby (age 15 born Bradford); Thos E. Slingsby (age 13 born Bradford); and Lucy J. Slingsby (age 12 born Bradford).[1]

1901 Living at 27 Victor Road, Bradford: Thomas Slingsby (age 59 born Bradford), Wholesale Bottler Merchant of Ale and Porter - Employer. With his wife Mary A. Slingsby (age 54 born Bradford) and their five children; Arthur Slingsby (age 32 born Bradford), Stuff and Woollen Merchant - Employer; Bertha Slingsby (age 31 born Bradford); Walter J. Slingsby (age 25 born Bradford), Truck Manufacturer - Manager; Thomas E Slingsby (age 23 born Bradford), Foreman Bottling Works; and Lucy J Slingsby (age 22 born Bradford). One servant.[2]

1911 Living at 8 The Grove, Shipley: Walter Joseph Slingsby (age 35 born Bradford), Truck Maker. With his wife Edith Alice Slingsby (age 32 born Saltaire) and their two children; Thomas Arnold Slingsby (age 7 born Bradford); and Geoffrey Norman Slingsby (age 2 born Shipley). One servant.[3]

1944 Died. 'Mr. Walter Joseph Slingsby, for over 50 years manager of H. C. Slingsby, truck and ladder makers, Preston Street, Bradford, died yesterday his home Shipley, aged 68. He had been captain, vice-president, and honorary life member of Shipley Golf Club and was a member Bradford County Conservative Club and of Shipley Bowling Green Club.'[4]
