Wooden rims for cycles were developed in USA protectd by the patent of Fairbanks and Berle of Boston, USA.

1894 Having imported some wooden rims into Britain, demand was such that a factory was established at Draycott

The plant was extended but could not meet all of the demand.

1896 A public limited company of similar name was established to acquire the business and assets of the company; Frank Bowden was chairman.
