Sir John Tomlinson Brunner (1842-1919), chairman of Brunner, Mond and Co

1873 Brunner was a senior office manager at Hutchinson's alkali works in Widnes.

Formed a partnership with his friend Ludwig Mond, which became Brunner, Mond and Co in 1874, makers of alkali.
