1886 Born in Ayr, youngest son of the Earl of Glasgow.
1910 Gained his aviator's certificate at Brooklands
1910 Accident at the Bournemouth Meeting. 'On Saturday afternoon it was reported that the Hon. Alan Boyle on his Avis monoplane had met with serious accident, having fallen into a ploughed field at Southbourne, east Bournemouth, and suffered concussion of the brain.....His condition yesterday was serious, and gave rise to great anxiety. He was unconscious nearly all yesterday.'
