"BERNARD AUGUSTUS HOLLAND was born in 1874 and educated at Foyle College, Londonderry.
He served his early apprenticeship in the shops of the Ebbw Vale Steel, Iron and Coal Company from 1890 to 1893 and then joined Messrs Tannett Walker and Company, of Leeds, with whom he was apprenticed for a further two years.
After serving for over a year in the drawing office he was put in charge of the erection of the machinery for coal tipping at Barry Docks.
He was later appointed commercial manager of the engineering department of the Lilleshall Company, Ltd., Shifnal, Salop, and in 1908 he founded the firm of Messrs. Bernard Holland and Company. He represented several firms both in this country and the colonies, and was a director of the Wolverhampton Steel and Iron Company, Ltd., for many years.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1902, and died on 21st November 1939."
