1956 Caterpillar bought the part of the Birtley business from which it obtained supplies. Birtley Engineering Ltd was set up in BSA Group, providing mines and power stations with ancillary equipment.

1961 General engineers, contractors and designers of wet and dry coal cleaning plant and material handling equipment.[1]

1971 Acquired by Great Western Steel Industries of Vancouver[2]
