Carnaby Street Power Station

From Graces Guide

1891 The St. James' and Pall Mall Electric Light Co - reference to Willans engines aggregating 1100 IHP at Carnaby Street (on order, not yet installed)[1]

1902 31 December: high tension current was supplied for the first time from Grove Road Station to Carnaby Street and Mason's Yard stations, supplementing the current generated at those stations.[2]

1911 Current was supplied from Grove Road to the St. James's and Pall Mall Electric Light Co to replace that from one of their 2 small stations (presumably Mason's Yard)

1912 In view of the good results with the first scheme supplying the St James company, a similar change would also be made at their Carnaby St plant. The Central Electric Supply Co would instal an extra 3000kW generator at Grove Road in order to supply this company[3]

1923 Carnaby St was no longer used as a generating station.[4]
