1929 Company incorporated as Miles Hire Ltd to operate a self-drive hire business[1]

Developed a chauffeur driven service, also operated from Eccleston Street, London

1930 Name changed to Godfrey Davis Ltd

1938 Appointed Ford main dealers; acquired land at Neasden where a service station was built.

1957 Moved many of the operations to Wilton Street, Victoria

1958 Godfrey Davis cut the deposit needed on car purchases to 5 percent[2]

1958 Extended the car hire business throughout the country using agents.

1959 Public listing of shares in the company: car hire specialists and Ford main dealers.[3]

1987 Acquired Sunlight Services

1991 Godfrey Davis (Holdings) changed its name to Davis Service Group; the business included automotive retail and industrial services[4]

1996 Acquired Spring Grove Services
