1873 Idris Co was originally founded by Thomas Howell Williams who was so struck by the beauty of the Idris Mountains in Wales, near where he lived, that he changed his name to Thomas Idris. The company was formed to manufacture mineral and aerated water.
1880 The company started to produce flavoured drinks. Robert Rowe and Thomas Adpar Jones also partners in the company, based in London.
1893 The company was registered on 28 April. [1] The company had accrued assets of £215,000.

By 1971 Idris Ltd was part of Beecham Group[3]
1987 The Britvic company bought the Idris brand together with the other soft drinks business from Beechams.
