"We regret to announce the death, on August 22nd, of Mr Ira Talmage Stephens. Mr Stephens, who was 89, had lived to see his original company, Ira Stephens Ltd., which he founded in 1912, become the parent of a group which now includes Ira Stephens (Miraclo) Ltd., and Stephens Miraclo Belts Ltd., of Ashton-under-Lyne, and Stephens Belting Company Ltd., of Birmingham.
For fifty-two years he was chairman of Ira Stephens Ltd., of which he was also managing director for fifty years. He was actively associated with the later companies in the group from the dates of their foundation."
