John Alexander McMullen (1863-1948) M.I.E.E.

1863 Born in Hertford the son of Alexander Peter McMullen, Brewster and Maltster, and his wife Mary Ann Shepherd

For 3 years, studied electrical engineering and electrical instrument manufacturing under Latimer Clark and Dr Muirhead.

1885-8 he was working with Muirhead duplexing various international cables.

1885 Associate member of IEE.

c.1889-1899 Worked in partnership with Kenric James McMullen as consultant engineers

1893 Became a Member of the IEE

1896 One of the directors of the Nalder and Harrison Construction Syndicate. When it was wound John Alexander McMullen and Kenric James McMullen offered to purchase the general engineering department, together with the leasehold property owned by the Syndicate[1]

1901 John A McMullen 37, consultant electrical engineer, working on own account, lived in Hornchurch with Anne M McMullen 37 and Kenric J McMullen 30 Brother, consultant electrical engineer, working on own account[2]

1939 Navigation Instructor living with his brother Kenric in Maldon, Essex[3]
