1881 Established as John Cran and Co.

1917 John Cran and Somerville Limited was registered as a private company, with capital of £50,000, to acquire and purchase as a going concern the business of the firm of John Cran and Co, shipbuilders, engineers, and boilermakers, Leith.[1]

1926 The shipyard was acquired by Henry Robb Ltd, the adjoining yard.

1927 The company was put into liquidation[2]
