1990 Bassett Foods PLC, part of the Cadbury Schweppes group, acquired The Lion Confectionery Co[1]; the companies trade and assets were transferred to Bassetts. The company became a dormant one.

2000 Cadbury Ltd, Trebor Bassett Ltd and the Lion Confectionery Co entered a partnership agreement and formed Cadbury Trebor Bassett, all subsidiaries of Cadbury plc[2]
