
1905 May. The Motor Yacht Club was created by a group of members of the Automobile Club of Great Britain and Ireland. They included:
- Bernard Boverton Redwood
- Lionel de Rothschild
- Basil Joy
- J. Scott Montagu
- Selwyn Edge
- Tom Thornycroft
- F. Lindsay Lloyd
- Captain Dixon
- Linton Hope
- E. A. Whitehead
- F. P. Armstrong
- and eleven others.
Its headquarters was the former Admiralty yacht Enchantress, a thousand-ton floating clubhouse moored at Buckler's Head near to Beaulieu, Hants.
