Noble and Lund of The Northern Machine Tool Works, Felling-on-Tyne, Gateshead.

Later the works were transferred to Felling-on-Tyne

1899 Public company with Mr. Noble as Chairman and Managing Director

1908 Reverted to private company.

1914 Engineers and machine tool makers. Specialities: lathes, drilling machines and machine tools generally, band sawing machines for metal. Employees 300. [1]

1934 Description of 55" centre-height lathe for English Steel Corporation, Brightside, Sheffield. Total length of bed 86ft 8" [2]

1947 Company made public.

1961 Large machine tool makers, ironfounders and engineers, producing planing machines, Plano milling machines, beam end milling machines, girder end milling machines, lathes, ingot parting machines, boring machines, Fluifeed cold sawing machines, bandsawing machines and saw sharpening machines. 500 employees. [3]

1987 Acquired Bull Group, maker of electric motors, and H. G. Sanders, maker of packaging products for adhesives and creams, and Eurotek, maker of office furniture.[4]

1989 Announced losses which were blamed on accounting errors at Kwiklok[5]

1989 Name changed to Cooks Industries plc. but the company was loss making.[6]

c.1990 Acquired from the receiver by F. M. T.
