Oldbury Railway Carriage and Wagon Co

of Oldbury, near Birmingham.
Seems likely to be a successor to the Railway Carriage Co of Oldbury
1873 In conjunction with the Merryweather and Sons built a tramcar designed by John Grantham. It first ran experimentally in West Brompton, and then on the horse tramway track on Vauxhall Bridge Road. The trials were not very satisfactory, and the locomotive was modified by Edward Woods, and used from c.1876 to 1881 on the Wantage Tramroad.[1]
1889 Was a plaintiff with others in an action against the Brighton District Tramways Co.[2]
1896/7 Directory: Listed for Railway Equipment [3]
1902 Metropolitan Amalgamated Railway Carriage and Wagon Co was registered on 18 April and incorporated as a limited company to amalgamate 6 companies including Oldbury Railway Carriage and Wagon Co.
1949 Liquidators appointed[4]
