Metropolitan Amalgamated Railway Carriage and Wagon Co

1902 The company was registered on 18 April and incorporated as a limited company to amalgamate:

The Patent Shaft and Axletree Co was acquired later in the year.

1903 Commenced manufacture of rapid-transit trains with an order for 24 motor cars for the Central London Railway

1907 Docker Brothers was acquired[1][2].

1909 Electrified train for London, Brighton and South Coast Railway

1911 Manufacturer of Carriages and Wagons for the Railways.[3]

All of these acquisitions were paid for by exchange of shares rather than needing to use cash, which had the consequence of providing the shareholders with a favourable balance sheet.

1912 F. Dudley Docker, the Chairman, proposed changing the name of the company from Metropolitan Amalgamated Railway Carriage and Wagon Company Ltd to Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon and Finance Co Ltd[4].
