ROBERT JOHN ADDISON PEARSON, 0.B.E., was born in Liverpool on 10th February 1877, and was educated at Doncaster School.
In 1893 he began an apprenticeship of five years at the locomotive works of the Great Northern Railway, Doncaster, and on its completion he studied at the Yorkshire College until 1902; graduating with engineering honours (Victoria University).
He then joined the Barrow Works of Vickers, Ltd., as assistant to the gun-mounting manager, and in 1910 was transferred to Erith as Works Superintendent, being made a special Director of the Company in 1919.
In the following year he resigned his position to take up the appointment of technical adviser to the Engineering and National Employers' Federations, which he held until his death on 25th July 1921, at the age of forty-four.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1919.
