STANLEY BRADSHAW, whose death in his seventy-first year occurred on 22nd January 1946, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912 and was transferred to Membership in 1916.
He served his apprenticeship at the Derby works of the Midland Railway from 1893 to 1896 and during the first half of that period attended classes at the Derby Technical College. After four years' experience as assistant in the carriage and wagon department of the East India Railway at Calcutta, he became inspecting engineer for Messrs. Livesey, Son and Henderson, and later acted in the same capacity for the Crown Agents for the Colonies, by whom he was appointed in 1913 resident inspector of rolling stock.
After serving as an assistant on the staff of the inspectorate at Woolwich Arsenal for six years he entered the continental office of the chief inspecting engineer, Egyptian State Railways in 1926 and was engaged as an administrative assistant until his death.
