1890-1892 Electric Construction Co, worked on Manchester Square Power Station, Rathbone Place Power Station, the Liverpool Overhead Railway and the South Staffordshire Tramway.

1893 Appointed assistant to W. H. Preece and A. H. Preece

1894 Associate of the Inst Elec Engineers.

1899 Address as Preece and Cardew, 13 Victoria Street, S W

1899 Associate member of the Inst Civil Engineers, of Eastgate, Croydon

1903 of Australia, patent on GARBAGE-DESTRUCTOR with John Thrush.

By 1906 was working for the Town Clerk, Town Hall, Sydney N S W

1911 Married Elizabeth Frances Pearce in Hampstead

By 1916 was working at 13 Victoria Street, S W

1920 With Ernest Charles Hatcher patented "Improvements in reduction gear "; possibly this led to the formation of the H-R Reduction Gear Syndicate.

By 1926 he was living in Hampstead

1939 Civil & Electrical Engineer (Retired) living in Lleyn, Caernarvonshire, Wales with Elizabeth F Rooke (b 1881), Robert C Rooke (b 1913), John D Rooke (b 1919)[1]

1956 Died in Wokingham[2]
