1880 August 05th. Born Ystrad, Rhondda, Glamorgan (Pontypridd), the son of Alban Richards

1881 Living at 154 Uptrad Road, Ystradyfodwg: Alban Richards (age 29? born Narbeth), Builder and Undertaker. with his wife Mary C., two daughters and two sons including William A. Richards (age 8 months).[1]

1899 William Alban Richards (18), son of Alban Richards, Contractor, Crawshay Villa, Ton, Pentre. Accidental shooting - David Harris deceased.[2]

1901 Living at Tynewydd House, Barry: Alban Richards (age 48 born Templeton), Builder and contractor. With his wife Mary C., five daughters and seven sons including the oldest ones Richard H. Richards (age 23 born Pentre), Builder; William A. Richards (age 30 born Pentre), Manager of Stone Quarry.[3]

1905 Patent. 'William Alban Richards, contractor, and Charles Benjamin Redrup, motor mechanic, both of 27, Chancery lane, London, England. Improvements relating to gas, oil and like engines.[4]

1906 Enrolled as Freemason. William Alban Richards. Merlin Lodge, Pontypridd. Contractor.

1911 Patent restoration. '...the International Rotary Motors Limited and William Alban Richards have made application for the restoration of the patent granted to Charles Benjamin Redrup and William Alban Richards for "Improvements in and relating to internal combustion engines," numbered 18193 of 1904, and bearing date the 22nd day of August, 1904, which expired on the 22nd day of August, 1909, owing to the non-payment of the prescribed renewal fee....'[5]

1911 Patent restoration. '... an Order was made on the 24th day of July, 1911, restoring the Letters Patent granted to Edgar Rouse Sutcliffe and William Alban Richards for an invention for "Improvements in apparatus for moulding roofing-tiles and like articles" numbered 5436 of 1906, and bearing date the 6th day of March, 1906...[6]
