William Deryk Castello was born in 1920 and apprenticed to Lagonda Motors, Ltd. He spent six months with Stewart and Ardern, Ltd., and six months with Shaw and Kilburn on repair and service work.

He joined the R.A.F.V.R. in 1938 and became a Pilot Officer with a bombing squadron, was awarded the D.F.C., and attained the rank of Flight-Lieutenant.

He was posted as missing in April, 1942. He was 22.

He was elected a Student in 1936 and transferred to Graduate in 1938.
