Attended Technical Schools for many years, and holds many certificates under Science Department, South Kensington. Attended course in Mechanical Sciences at Royal College of Science, and course in Electrical Engineering at Sheffield. Spent short periods at various electrical works. Prizeman and awarded scholarships for technical work. Served engineer's apprentice at shops attached to large ironworks, collieries, coal washing and coking plants. Eighteen months as a Draughtsman under Ebbw Vale Steel, Iron and Coal Co.; three years, Draughtsman under North's Navigation Co., Maesteg; three years, Practical Engineer under North's Navigation Co., Maesteg; two years, Engineer, under John Brown and Co., Sheffield; two years, Chief Mechanical and Electrical Engineer for Welsh Navigation Steam Coal Co. Now Mechanical and Electrical Engineer for a group of collieries of Cory Brothers and Co., Ltd. Chief Works: Experience of pit sinking and equipment, electrification of collieries and works, iron and steel works, coal washeries and coking plants, benzol factories, tar distillation plants, power station work, brickworks, etc. Member of South Wales Institute of Engineers; Member Association of Mining Electrical Engineers. Engaged as teacher of engineering subjects at evening technical schools under Glamorgan Cpunty Council at Maesteg and Bridgend for several years. Member of Ogmore Lodge.
