1905  Apprenticed aged 15 to [[J. J. Saville and Co]] with whom he remained and progressed on the commercial side.
 
1928  director of [[William Jessop and Sons]] and [[J. J. Saville and Co]].

Lewis Chapman CBE (1890-1963)

Born 5 Jan 1890

1905 Apprenticed aged 15 to J. J. Saville and Co with whom he remained and progressed on the commercial side.

1928 director of William Jessop and Sons and J. J. Saville and Co.

1931 appointed Managing Director of J J Saville and of William Jessop and Sons. He was also appointed a director of their parent company BSA.[1]

1936 stepped down from the board of BSA to devote himself entirely to the two Sheffield steel companies.[2]

1952 elected back onto the Board of BSA.[3]

1953 elected chairman of High Speed Steel Alloys of Widnes in succession to Lord Riverdale.[4]

1955 New Year honours - Lewis Chapman, Managing Director, William Jessop and Sons, Ltd. awarded CBE. [5]
