Mr. Higginbotham, who was seventy-nine, was an accountant, and after spending seventeen years in this profession, joined Lever Brothers Ltd., as assistant to the managing director. Later he held important positions at the International Combustion Company Ltd. and at the Ebbw Vale Steel and Iron Company Ltd. In 1930 he was appointed secretary and chief accountant of Edgar Allen and Co. Ltd. He became a director in 1933 and chairman of the board and chief executive in 1945.'
