1962 As part of the reorganization of the company's activities concerning, nuts, bolts, screws, fasteners etc., a new company was formed GKN Bolts and Nuts; the existing Guest, Keen and Nettlefolds (Midlands) was renamed GKN Screws and Fasteners[1]
c1964 Introduced the Phillips Pozidriv recessed head screw, which replaced the older Phillips head in British industry within a year, an achievement which was said to set an example for Europe and USA[2]
1966 One of 7 groups in GKN after reorganisation; it included:
- Heath Street Division, Birmingham
- Kings Norton Division, Birmingham
- The British Screw Co Ltd, Leeds
- T. J. Brooks (Leicester) Ltd
- Floform Ltd, Newtown, Mons
- Thomas Haddon and Stokes Ltd, Birmingham
- Thomas P. Hawkins Ltd, Birmingham
- Ionic Plating Co Ltd, Birmingham
- Frederick Mountford (Birmingham) Ltd
- Premier Screw and Repetition Co Ltd
1975 GKN formed a new sub-group of the company called GKN Fasteners. This brought together GKN's European manufacturing units involved in fasteners, builders hardware and allied products[3]
1981 GKN Screws and Fasteners was one of many British companies which announced redundancies[4]
