Standard Industrial Group Ltd, an industrial holding company
1960 Kamra Investments acquired Standard Industrial Trust and in consequence changed its name to Standard Industrial Group[1].
1960 Acquired Price and May; sold its 73% holding in Crittall-Aquafont[2].
1961 Acquired Chessington Zoo [3]. Acquired Gloucester Carpet Co and Hadley Telephone and Sound Systems[4]. Acquired Matthews and Yates of Swinton[5].
1961 Formed Standard Industrial Holdings to hold the industrial interests; this new subsidiary also received funding from Minerals Separation and S. G. Warburg who would own 60% of it[6].
1962 Standard Industrial Holdings purchased Turner and Brown of Bolton, chemical plant engineers[7] and J. W. Jackman and Co of Manchester, foundry equipment makers. Standard Industrial Group purchased Spirella Co of Great Britain, makers of foundation garments[8]. The 2 entities purchased Bulk Storage Ltd and Bulk Storage (Transport) Ltd[9] and John Davis and Son of Derby[10].
1963 Sold interest in W. N. Froy and Sons[11]. Acquired Richard Cooper and Co (Ashbourne) Ltd, with its subsidiary Knitted Garments Ltd, and Seak Ltd with its subsidiary Splendida Ltd[12].
1965 Acquired Glass (Coventry) Ltd, glazing contractors[13].
1966 Lazard Brothers and Co controlled 22% of the company[14]. Minerals Separation sold their share of Holdings to Group and acquired Richard Cooper and Co (Ashbourne) Ltd which had been contributing about half of the Holding company's profits[15].
1967 Standard Industrial Group purchased 58% of Allied English Potteries in exchange for 8 million shares which gave S. Pearson and Son a majority holding in SIG[16]. M. Appleson was a wholly owned subsidiary[17].
1969 Was one of S. Pearson and Son's quoted subsidiaries at the time of the flotation of the parent company; had interests in pottery, glass, engineering and warehousing industries, an issuing house, and Chessington Zoo[18].
