1868 Letter from Charles L. Pooley of India Mills with indicator diagrams for a 150 HP Allen engine. 18" x 30" cylinder, 50 psi, 120 rpm. Power taken off by 24" wide leather belt at 3000 ft/min, made in New York[1]

Announcement.- Highly-important Piecemeal Sale of the Whole of Excellent and Nearly New Machinery for Preparing, Spinning, Winding, Warping, Making-up Cotton, Loose Articles, Mechanics' Tools, Steam Boilers, Fuel Economisers, Steam Engines, Mill Gearing, Shafting, Piping, and Effects in and upon the above extensive mills.
EDWARD RUSHTON, SON, & KENYON are in receipt of instructions to SELL BY AUCTION on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. February 5th, 6th and 7th, 1896, on the premises, as above (late in the occupation of Messrs. Charles Pooley and Co., Limited), the Valuable and Nearly New COTTON-SPINNING MACHINERY, Steam Boilers, Steam Engines, Shafting, Piping, Mechanics' Tools, &c., including two Lord's patent combination exhaust cotton openers, and lap machine for 40in. cards, by Lord Brothers, 1893. 10 single beater lap machines for 40in. cards, by Lord Brothers and Platt Brothers and Co. Limited, 1890,1885, and 1894 ; 20 single revolving carding engines, 38in. on wire, 50in. cylinders, J. Hetherington and Sons, part new in 1890 and 1889; 58 single roller and clearer carding engines, 24 drawing frames, containing 213 deliveries; 13 slubbing frames, containing 890 spindles; 19 intermediate frames, containing 1,612 spindles; 51 roving frames, containing spindles, Platt Bros, and Co. Limited, Asa Lees and Co. Limited, Walker and Hacking, and other makers ; 23 pairs self-acting mules, containing 31,512 spindles, by Curtis, Sons, and Co., and others; 53 ring spinning containing 17,916 spindles, by J. Hetherington and Sons and Brooks, part new 1850 and 1887: winding machines and warping mills; 166 cop and bobbin reels 9 10lb. bundling presses; full complement of leather strapping, bobbins, cans, buffaloes, mechanics tools, and general loose articles and stores ; also four nearly-new Galloway steam boilers, 28ft. long 7ft. dia., W. and J. Galloway and Son, 1887; Green's fuel economisers, 224 pipes; high-class modern horizontal compound steam engine, side by side cylinders, 32in. and 56in. dia., 6ft. stroke, flywheel between cylinders, and fitted with Corliss valves, and Musgrave's patent slip motion, by Musgrave and Sons, Bolton, 1884; Barring engine, double-acting pumping engine, several thousand feet of polished shafting and gearing, and the whole of the cast and wrought iron steam and gas piping the premises.
