1906 Cleveland and Durham Electric Power Ltd was incorporated to acquire the Cleveland and Durham County Electric Power Co Ltd and a controlling share in Northern Counties Electricity Supply Co, which was supplying current in many parts of Northumberland, Durham and South Yorkshire[1]
