1955 Rediffusion joined forces with Associated Newspapers, a subsidiary of Daily Mail and General Trust, to form Associated-Rediffusion, and won the coveted London weekday ITV broadcast franchise. One of the "big four" commercial television contractors. Began broadcasting on 22 September.
By 1965 Associated Rediffusion had been wound up and the proceeds paid out to the shareholders[1]
1967 The Independent Television Authority decided not to reappoint Rediffusion Television to the London ITV contract. Instead ITA enforced a merger with rival company ABC Television to form Thames Television.
