1899 The company was registered on 4 January, as the Trusty Engine Works, to acquire the business of oil and gas engine manufacturers of Weyman and Hitchcock. [1] They considerably increased the plant and machinery with a view to the manufacture of high class steam engines and general engineering work. In this direction they were very busy, orders being in hand for the former exceeding 2,000 hP.[2]
1899 Exhibited the 'Trusty Engine' in the 1899 Crystal Palace Exhibition.
1900 June. Royal Agricultural Show at York. Showed the Trusty engine. [3]
1900 Paris exhibition. The Trusty Oil Engine Co showed an oil and a gas engine [4]
1900 The Trusty Engine Works formed an alliance with The Shillingford Works Co of Wallingford. [5]
1901 The name was changed to the Shillingford Engineering Co.
