"ERNEST KING was born in London in 1868 and educated at Saint Mark's College, Chelsea, and the London City and Guilds Technical College, Finsbury. He served his apprenticeship in the works of [[H. Young and Co|Messrs. H. Young and Company, Ltd]]., London, from 1886 to 1889, after which he continued for three years with this company as a draughtsman. He gained a Whitworth Exhibition in 1890 and in 1892 he joined [[James Gray and Co|Messrs. James Gray and Company]], heating engineers, London. In 1901 he was appointed works manager for [[Mellowes and Co|Messrs. Mellowes and Company]], Sheffield, and on its conversion into a limited liability company in 1903 he also became secretary to the firm. In 1907 he was appointed to the board of directors, and when he died on 25th September 1939, he had held the position of chairman for many years. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1901 and he was transferred to Membership in 1914. "ERNEST KING was born in London in 1868 and educated at Saint Mark's College, Chelsea, and the London City and Guilds Technical College, Finsbury. He served his apprenticeship in the works of Messrs. H. Young and Company, Ltd., London, from 1886 to 1889, after which he continued for three years with this company as a draughtsman.
