Career: with Metropolitan Vickers and Fabbrica Ceirano Automobile Torino, of Italy

Inventor and patentee of the Newton shock absorber, Newton centrifugal clutch, independent suspension, etc.

1934 Director of Newton and Bennett, Ltd., Manchester & London.

1945 Formed Newton (Motor) Products Ltd. to manufacture the Newton Clutch Plate

1946 Formed Power Jacks Ltd. to make various hydraulic apparatus including the Newton "Hydratruck."

1959 Chairman and Joint Managing Director, Newton and Bennett Ltd.; Chairman, Power Jacks Ltd.; Director, Alford and Alder (Engineers), Ltd., and Alforder Newton, Ltd.

many fighting vehicles were equipped with this type of suspension control, and two other factories manufactured the apparatus; a further company, Newton (Motor) Products, Ltd., was formed in 1945 to manufacture the Newton Clutch Plate, and in 1946 Power Jacks, Ltd. was founded to make various hydraulic apparatus including the Newton " Hydratruck "; appointed present position in 1924.
