1903 With Duke and Ockenden, Waterworks Engineers, Littlehampton.
1904-8 With Appleby's Ltd., Parkhead, Glasgow, designing all types of cranes.
1908 Mechanical Engineer with Wellman, Seaver and Head.
1913 Joined 520th (London) Field Company, Royal Engineers
WWI Service in France (attached to 47th Division).
1916 Released from military service to return to Wellman, Seaver & Head, Ltd.
1918 Recalled to army.
1922 Steelworks engineer Wellman Smith Owen Engineering Corporation
Chief Designer, Thomas Broadbent and Sons, Ltd., Huddersfield. Designed opening machinery for Tees (Newport) Vertical Lift Bridge, Boothferry Swing Bridge, Bangkok Bascule Bridge, Weymouth Bridge, etc
