Richard Forster (1877-1907)

1908 Obituary [1]

RICHARD FORSTER was born at Chapeltown, Sheffield, on 22nd December 1877.

His education was received at the High Green School and the Sheffield Technical College (now the University).

He served an apprenticeship in the Thorncliffe Works of Messrs. Newton Chambers and Co., and on its completion was employed in the drawing office.

In 1903 he went to the Horsehay Co., Shropshire, as chief draughtsman for the design of gas plants, and acted in that capacity for three years, when he was engaged by Messrs. C. and W. Walker, of Donnington.

Having met with an accident which was followed by ill-health, he was compelled to go abroad.

In October 1907 he sailed for New Zealand, but severe illness necessitated his landing at Cape Town, where he entered the New Somerset Hospital. His death took place there on Christmas Day 1907, at the age of thirty.

He became a Graduate of this Institution in 1901, and was elected an Associate Member in 1903.
