Livingstone and Cooper

Livingstone and Cooper of Hessle was a shipbuilding company.

  • It was initially operated by the Cooper family before becoming a partnership at the end of the 1900s.
  • 1900s - During World War I the yard built standard coasters and five "Saint" class naval tugs. It then went on to build a series of coasters. However, this soon ran out and during the 1920s the yard built whatever it was asked to do. This included a large motor tanker: Otokia, which although completed in September 1925, had drained the company of its resources. Consequently the yard closed soon after.
