THOMAS ALBERT OAKES TAYLOR was born in Leeds on 13th September 1849, being the only son of George Taylor, who was the founder of the Clarence Iron and Steel Works, Leeds (Proceedings 1876, page 24).
About 1872 he became managing partner in these works, and since his father's death in June 1875 was the senior partner.
He died on 22nd August 1894, from congestion of the lungs, in the forty-fifth year of his age.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1882.
