1920 Proposed merger of Walker's Tobacco Co, W. H. Newman and Co, Findlay and Co and Albert Baker and Co.[1] The merger failed to be completed.

1920 'Messrs. Newman are extensive manufacturers of English briar pipes. Findlay and Co., Ltd., Newcastle, the third firm involved, will be best known, perhaps, the travelling public reason of the great number of artistic kiosks which they have set up at all the principal railway stations. firm has also a large number of shops selling high-class lines.'
