Harp Mill, Castleton

1908 Built for the Harp Doubling Co.

The chief contractors for the mill were:— Builders: R. and T. Howarth, Rochdale; engines and boilers by Yates and Thom, Blackburn: millwrights, Petrie and Co,. Rochdale; doubling machinery, Howard and Bullough, Accrington; preparation and gassing machinery, Arundel and Co, Stockport; heating and ventilating, J. Stott and Co, Oldham. Engine: 700 HP, Corliss valve gear on both cylinders. HP cylinder 20", LP 40", stroke 4 ft, 150 psi.[1]

1938 Acquired by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation.

1958 Mill ceased spinning.

1958 Mill acquired by N. Corah (St. Mary) Ltd. for use as a hosiery factory.[2]
