1905 The Conference of the Chief Officials of the London Electric Supply Companies was established
Later it changed its name to the London Electricity Supply Association

- Chelsea Electricity Supply Co Ltd
- City of London Electric Light Co Ltd
- County of London Electric Supply Co Ltd
- Kensington and Knightsbridge Electric Lighting Co Ltd
- London Electric Supply Corporation Ltd
- London Power Co Ltd
- Metropolitan Electric Supply Co Ltd
- Notting Hill Electric Lighting Co Ltd
- St. James' and Pall Mall Electric Light Co Ltd
- South London Electric Supply Corporation Ltd
- South Metropolitan Electric Light and Power Co Ltd
- Westminster Electric Supply Corporation Ltd
The Association's purpose was to develop the use of electricity for all purposes in its area.
1936 The London Associated Electricity Undertakings Limited was established - the six distributing companies were purchased in order to integrate their areas of supplies and co-ordinate resources.
1938 The six companies were amalgamated, through the acquisition by the Charing Cross Company of the other five companies; it changed its name to Central London Electricity Limited.
WWII During the Second World War, bombing and evacuation led to the loss of one-third of the company's customers and half of its electricity output.
