1857 The South Wales Institution (sic) of Engineers was established in October, 1857, at Merthyr, under the presidency of Mr. Menelaus[1]
1863 Thomas Evans - President for the Year.
1864 Alexander Bassett was president
By 1864 nineteen meetings had been held at Merthyr, Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea; seventy one papers had been read. The number of subscribing members up to the close 1863 were 170.
1925 Organised an Engineering Exhibition in Cardiff.[2]
1926 T. Allan Johnson, managing director of the Hills Dry Docks and Engineering Co of Cardiff, was elected by the Council as President of the South Wales Institute of Engineers for the session of 1927.[3]
