South Wales Institute of Engineers
1857 The South Wales Institution (sic) of Engineers was established in October, 1857, at Merthyr, under the presidency of Mr. Menelaus
1863 Thomas Evans - President for the Year.
1864 Alexander Bassett was president
By 1864 nineteen meetings had been held at Merthyr, Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea; seventy one papers had been read. The number of subscribing members up to the close 1863 were 170.
1925 Organised an Engineering Exhibition in Cardiff.
